When I was asked to start contributing to OutFit, my immediate thought was, “Why? I will make a few posts that no one reads before I realize it’s a waste of time and stop contributing”. I quickly realized that for me, OutFit isn’t about being read, respected or recognized for anything. To me, it’s about being accountable for goals I set and challenging myself to improve.
Although I’ve been working out on and off for a couple years now I have not documented any sort of quantitative goals. Recently I started tracking my progress in my phone which was a good start but I think taking this step and making my goals public will guarantee I strive to achieve them and hold me accountable for the work I put it.
I am studying Kinesiology at The University of Western Ontario and the knowledge I’ve gained in my program has made me extremely conscious of how our body works and the ways in which we can strengthen it. I still very much consider myself a student of the human body and am always interested in learning new exercises to try and gain a more dynamic workout. I play many sports year round including hockey, baseball, basketball and ultimate Frisbee.
School and other commitments have limited the amount of time I’ve put into the gym recently. There's always a million reasons to stay home but I’m hoping this blog will motivate me to continue going to the gym during these busy times.
